Idea

My idea for the final piece was was to show the contrast between the day and night life of two different people. By day they are ordinary normal human beings who are quite natural, whilst on the other hand by night they become glamourous attractive models, which is very man made.

Experimentation

Here i have experimented with some of my pictures with the use of different effects and ideas on Adobe Photoshop.

Here i have made the whole image black and white, and only kept the make up that i put on through using digital manipulation stuand out against the original. I did this to show the contrast between how much i have really manipulated the images and how much make up she is wearing. I also got rid of the wrinkles on her forehead to add to the glamorous look. To do this i used the clone tool in Adobe Photoshop.

Here i have used the plastic wrap effect to show the sense of the model being a plastic looking girl becuase of all the make up she wears. Through research i have found out that girls that wear too much make up are called "plastics" as a connotation to the Barbie doll. I feel that this effect is very gritty and brings out the textures really well. However, i wasnt too keen on it as it looked too fake, and didnt create the effect i was going for.

Here i have used the cut out effect on the image, this touches on the effect that the girl wears layers and layers of make up to look as man made as she does. However, doing this takes away the detail on the face, which is something i did not like. I would have prefered for the images to look a lot more detailed to show the make up and the man made changes on the model.

Here i have completely distorted the image of my model. I really like this effect as it gives a very horrid effect on the models face. I was trying to show how people become really messed up by the use of make up and plastic surgery. It really touches on every single mini project i did on this coursework. When someone uses too much make up, plastic surgery, or when they become anorexic they start to look quite weird and freaky after a little while and become very dependant on those man made items for the future.

Here i have used another model, and for this picture i was experimenting with the use of angles and close up to concentrate on the main parts of the face. Here for example, i have concentrated most on the eyes and lips, where you can see exactly how much make up she is wearing. I really like this effect because it has a very glamourous feel to it, and brings out the best features enhanced by man.

Here i have used diffuse glow on the models face with a black glow, this creates a very burnt and torn down effect on the models face. I really like this effect because it shows that the model is not only very man made, but also being affected by this in a bad way. Her identity is defined more through the make up, than her

Here i have made my models face look very pasty and fake. This creates a very plastic effect, and i have also made her lips a bit saturated compared to the rest of the image. I did this because i wanted to create the effect that she paints on the make up and is desperate to look good.

Here i have used an effect called glowing edges. I like this effect becuase it looks very disturbing and shows the contours of the models face. The image shows exactly what i was trying to connote, however, i decided i wanted a picture that was more glamourous than gritty for my final piece.

Here i have painted in a different colour on the main contours of her face. This was to experiment with a different technique to create a similar effect as the one on the left.
