Photoshop Manipulation
I looked at some of the research ive done about Magazines and posters with attractive celebrity images on them. To explore this, I decided to look at some "natural" pictures of celebrities, along with pictures of models and celebrities without make up, and then manipulate those images with the use of photoshop to create a before and after effect.
I did this with celebrities becuase I wanted a type of starting point and something to work with in the begining to experiment with. Doing this has shown me how much celebrities get made up rather than staying natural. Research also showed how people show celebrites as they are becuase:

- It is a marketing strategy for the cosmetic business, as many normal people would want to look perfect like celebrities and would have to use the products cosmetic companies create to look their best
- A sense of superiority given by the celebrities, becuase they are high up in the class system, they are shown to look perfect to normal people so they strive to look more like them.
Here is an image of a model Adriana Lima before and after digital manipulation. In this image i have:
However, looking at the digital manipulation I have realised how this can look very fake, rather than realistic. However, I will be doing more experimentation using normal peoples images.
- Taken away all her blemishes, and softened her skin out by using the blur tool
- Given her eyeliner and mascara on her eyes by using the brush tool
- used the magnetic lasool to go aroundher pupils and changed the colour of her eyes into a green blue.
- given her pink eyeshadow and liner with the use of a new layer with 38% opacity. (eyeshadow is drawn on with brush tool)
- Given her a blusher, which is also done in the same way as the eyeshadow.
- changed her lip colour using the colour blanace and brightness contrast tool. also changed shadows to make her lips look fuller.
- Changed her eyebrows to make them look darker and more tamed.

Below is another picture that i created for my AS Photography Seven Deadly Sins project. One thing I really focused on this project was the use of colours and message through eyes.
With reference to the image above, I also thought sometimes people need to be digitally enhanced for audience and effect purposes. This type of editing in my opinion is acceptable, as it is not giving out bad moral impacts on the audience. By this I mean people being changed through photoshop or any other image editing software, just to make them look flawless and beautiful.
Adobe Photoshop
Here i used Photoshop to create an image of photoshop itself. The only difference in this image is that all the tools and layers are called something else to do with beauty and wanting to look like something they are not. For example, the dodge tool is called skin lightener, and I used this tool to actually lighten the models skin tone. The pen tool is called mascara and eyeliner, because i used the pen tool to draw on some eyelashes and eyeliner.
I did this to show the ironicalness between the tools in adobe photoshop, and the beauty products.
