Experimentation
Duplicating the subject
- Clone tool to duplicate the woman in two different layers
- Diffuse glow on the woman to make her look quite dreamy
- Higher contrast to make the image stand out
- Red photo filter on the main image to give a sense of femme fatal.
Here i have taken the image on the left and put on a red colour filter on it. Doing this makes the woman look quite dangerous, and i realised that it went really well with the femme fatal look from film noir.

Smart blur on main image, and motion blur on clones.
Here i have blured the images quite a bit to give it a sense of hallucination again.
I feel this image gives a better sense of hallucination through the stalker, and femme fatal from film noir.

Extreme close ups
I thought close ups are a good way of distorting the image, and also helping the image look a lot more effective as it fills the whole frame. I cropped some of the photographs i took of Louise to create the sense of filling the frame with the most important part of the subject to create a better effect.
- Clone tool to enhance lips
- Brightness and contrast changed
- Dodge tool to whiten teeth
- Burn tool to burn out some highlights in hair.
- Slight change in image saturation
- Diffuse glow look for the picture on the right.
For the picture on the right i decided to have a very glamourous and happy look. I decided to do this to show the childhood/liveliness and innocence in the girl's features. This makes us feel quite bad for the victim who is being stalked.
Here i have created a small collage of the victim with a few close up shots of her to show her identity through sexuality and innocence put together. I like the effect of putting two opposites together (sexy and innocent) because it shows what the stalker sees from his point of view, and what makes him stalk her.
I really like this idea, as it puts a very subtle message through to the audience and it pleasing to the eye, however, it does not go with the type of look i am going for. When you think about stalking, a very dark image comes into mind. Whereas this image is quite bright and lively.

Inversion
I looked at inverting some images this is because I found the effect quite interesting. For both the images, it looks as if the victims been exhausted and the frame looks quite claustrophobic, which makes the image look quite sinister and dark.
Here i have desaturated the image after inverting it, and played around with the brightness and contrast. I feel that this image looks a bit spooky and disturbing when you look at it compared to the other images. The lack of detail in the image also has a sense of grittiness behind it.
For this image I inverted the image, then replaced the background colour with black and made the contrast very high, and the brightness very low. This effect was quite good because even though it is hard to establish what is going on in the image it gives a sense of mystery to the image. I also feel that this photographs resembles the sadistic and low environment a stalker would work at.
Experimenting with different brushes
Here i have experimented with a few different brushes to create quite a gritty/dirty look for the pictures to see how they would look.
Keep dreaming volume 44 brushes
Shattered glass brushes
Burn tool to darken face from access lighting
Brightness and contrast
Here i have used a few brushes together to create a very grungy look. I like this effect however, the brushes and the pose don't necesarily go together which is why I've decided not to use these brushes for my final piece.

Backgrounds and Textures
I wanted to experiment with backgrounds and textures because through my photographer research i realised how important the background and setting is when you are trying to create a dramatic effect in the photograph. This is why, i looked at some gritty looking backgrounds and textures, compared to the pink wallpaper texture, to see what the different effects would be.
I really like the image on the right, for this image i took a background called Death and Decay Metal Grunge from the website www.brusheezy.com. I then used colour correction to make the two images (the image of my model, and the background) in the similar tone to each other so they do not look as odd as when you first put them together. I also made the contrast higher on both images to give it the grungy look. I also used the blur tool to blend things together and making them look like its all part of one image. Below is the same image but with an even higher contrast which makes the gritty feeling a lot more effective.
As you can see, this image has a completely opposite effect to the one above. Mainly because of the pose and the background put together, which make a very positive and pleasant looking image.
I feel that images edited in such manor would not be appropriate for my final work, this is because it looks too happy and doesn't point out that the girl is being stalked.
