Photographer research- Jason Christopher Fashion Photography

I decided to look at a fashion photographer for my final and main research for this coursework because my idea was based around a very glamorous photo shoot. To do this i wanted to first see what other photographers did for photo shoots, and use their ideas to develop my own. Here is some of the work i found very interesting by Jason Christopher.

I really like this image because of the sense of simplicity and beauty shown through a very close up image.
I feel that the close up really adds to the effect, and the image wouldn't have the same effect if it was a mid shot of the model.

The use of a mascara brush as a prop really adds to the image as it shows how make up is important to the girl, but without the use of too much make up really on.

From the idea above, i took a picture of my model as an extreme close up shot, and instead of using props or simplicity, i tried going for the complete opposite by focusing on the exaggerated eyelashes and lips.
I really feel that this picture was successful in showing the access use of make up, however it would have been better if the angle was a bit more suited to the face shape of my model.

I liked this picture because of the use of negative space surrounding the model's face. This makes us focus on her face really well, and grabs the viewers attention very quickly too.

I tried using the effect of having a negative space in the image for most of my images. This is because it made the image stick out a lot more.
I like this photograph because of the lighting used on the model's face. I also like the contrast between the dark plain back ground and the make up on her lit up face.

This was another one of Jason Christopher's photographs that gave me quite a lot of ideas to work with. This picture creates similar effects to the first one, however, the use of a paintbrush to paint her lips on adds to the effect of desperation to have make up.

I used this effect and developed it further to my taste to create the black and white image with saturated lips and paint brush. I feel that i have really accomplished the photograph to look as if the model is very pasty looking and is desperate for more make up and to look beautiful.
To conclude, i feel that Jason Christopher takes very simple yet effective beauty photographs. However, i wanted to show that man made is slowly taking over the natural basics in life such as natural skin and lips, and Christopher's image look very natural and simple to me. Therefore, i took pictures and exaggerated them and made them look very dark and over the top to add to the effect i was more looking forward to have.
On the other hand, i also decided to use some of the techniques Christopher uses in his images such as having negative space in the image to make it look a lot more effective, and allow the viewers to be allured into looking at the main image.
